Aimee Monihan
President and Principal Event Coordinator
Born in Seattle, WA, Aimee graduated high school in her home town before finding her way to Fort Collins, CO to study for a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Colorado State University. After graduation she traveled to Chile and Costa Rica to study Spanish and then returned to Denver to work for Marriot as VIP guest services manager and event planner for four years. A brief stint as an independent event planner in the same city preceded a return to Costa Rica where Aimee coordinated weddings at a luxury boutique hotel before starting Tropical Occasions in 1999. Aimee was Costa Rica’s very first destination wedding coordinator. She helped create the destination wedding market here and is so happy seeing Costa Rica’s popularity grow with each year. Aimee’s passion for the industry is unbridled and her style is evident in every event she plans.
When not planning weddings, Aimee is normally enjoying the great outdoors, running or hiking. She also loves to cook and attends gourmet and ethnic cooking classes whenever she can. Aimee’s other passion in life is her new baby boy Callum., whom Aimee would say is “my greatest masterpiece yet”
